More Handmade Things @ Silkweeds

These Signs are handmade and painted by Country Mama Signs, right here in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine.
She does a great job and will write anything you want on a sign. We are fortunate to have her in our shop as a crafter.

Felted Purses galore, Denise Perkins-Fields does an amazing job on all the purses that she makes. She is also felting bowls now and we should have them soon. She sews rabbits and dolls also. Quite a jack of all trades, or I guess that would be Jill ;).

Pot Scrubbies, no house should be without them and I can't even tell you how many of these we go through. They are great and they work on all pots and pans, even no scratch surfaces. We have a local lady that does these for us as well.

Handmade doilies are great too. This week I have sold about 6 of them. My mother-in-law is to thank for these. She spends all winter crocheting them and starching them then we have them to sell here. She makes them in runners for us too.

We are so fortunate to have all these people that can craft for our store. We are more than willing to sell handcrafted items, we prefer to do that in many instances. Watch tomorrow for even more things that are handcrafted.

These are just some of the reasons that "It's Always Worth The Trip @ Silkweeds"

Do you know anyone that makes nice things and is willing to sell wholesale to a shop? Let them know that we are always looking for new things to buy for our store.

New Products

What a gorgeous day out there. Well you all know that I have just gone shopping and here are a few things that I brought back. I have been putting out freight for two days.

We are trying more and more to do business locally, or at least USA made. It isn't easy to find people that want to sell their wares at a cost that we can resell them. We do get lucky from time to time and find a few companies though...Here are a few things

Pineapple made right here in Maine, I just had to go to MA to get it.

These "Old" window frames were recycled along with some pieces of plywood and some creativity. And all made in Indiana but we are lucky enough to have a few of them here

Hand made right here in Maine, Crocheted "recycled" wool rugs. They are so soft to walk on. (Something I am amazed at). We don't have many but a few.

These lampshades are hand made also, from Indiana but made with love and care from a woman that enjoys making nice things for someone else's home.

The pillow and table runner is
made right down the street by a wonderful lady named Connie. She brings one of a kind items in about once a week. We are fortunate to have her things too.
There will be more about what we
have that is locally made tomorrow. I am just out of room and out of
time. Look tomorrow for purses, scrubbies, doilies, lamps and more. Remember "It's Always Worth the Trip @ Silkweeds"

Yummy for your tummy :)

Well, a couple of months ago I went to a wholesale show in Portland and it is a small show so you don't always get to expect great things. I mean it isn't like going to Atlanta but.............sometimes you do find an unexpected treasure. (We found a few that day, here is the first one that showed up at the store.)
When you go to the shows you get to graze in the food isle. These companies all temp you with your tastebuds. They all sample their wares and that of course makes you want to buy them. You should never go when you are hungry though because sometimes things don't always taste as good as you thought they did that day. :)
This is a great, locally made, tastey treat. Stop on by and pick some up. It will spice up your old spaghetti and meatballs and remember "It's Always Worth The Trip @ Silkweeds"

Summer Fun...

Here are some of the new flags that just came into the store. I hung them out yesterday. Even today when I took them outside they make me feel good to look at. No more snow, at least for awhile.

The colors in the flags are just beautiful, They look so good hanging outside the store.

Here is a new spring wreath that just came in. I put 4 of them out yesterday and one sold within the hour. You have to love it when that happens.
