Here is hoping that if you have the day off, you are enjoying yourself. If you are working like some of us, well lets all hope for a great retail day. I always like working on these kind of holidays because I always get to see my customers that work normally. It is like old home week for me on days like this. I get to laugh, and chat with folks that I don't get to see often enough.
Saturday, I had Dick and Carolyn Taylor (loyal customers) come by to see me.... they had some news. Last week they put their house up for sale here went to Virginia Beach, where Dick's sons live and bought themselves a house all in a week. They came back home and called the movers and they will be off towards the end of March. They have to be back there to close on the 25th of March so they say they will swing in to see me then. I will miss them. Like many of my customers, I have made a connection with them. They seem like family to me, I care what happens to them. This is a good move for them, but for me I will have fond memories. Thank goodness for those memories and for emails that will keep us close.
Today, is Presidents day, the store has been busy, but we seem to have a slight lul in the afternoon. I thought I would take that time to write to you. 25% off storewide* with only two exceptions. If you have time, stop by and see what is new. Enjoy a jaunt through the store, and sample some fudge. Most important....... Enjoy yourself

Think Spring :)
It is really hard not to want spring today with the weather outside looking so good. The temperature seems to be between 40-45 degrees and the sun is shining brightly. It makes you feel good all over. About like these flowers. They just scream spring..................... The whole shop does so when you need a pick me up these next few weeks before spring really does hit, just stop by and have a feel good moment on us.
There also are these really sweet angels that are in our front window right now. They look peaceful, which is something that we all could use these days. A little peace.
We have some sun catchers in pink, blue, yellow and green hanging over them so it really kind of puts you in the mood for spring. Pastel colors seem to be able to do that for us I guess.
Have a great day and remember " It's Always Worth the Trip @ Silkweeds."

New Look........
Well today I decided to play with my background on the blog. I love some of the new things I found at http://www.thecutestblogontheblock.com/ They have the funnest things.
I hope you all think it is fun to look at. I am loving the browns/pinks together, I feel the same way about brown and blue together. They are happy, feel good colors. We have some new purses coming in april that are brown and pink, don't forget to check back to see them. I will post a picture of them when they get here.
For three days last week I ripped homespun and made fat quarters. We have never sold our homespun this way but we decided that because of there being no where else around to get homespun, let alone in fat quarters that maybe we would try it. I can say that some people are impressed that we have them. I think I waited on 4 different people over the weekend that picked up one or two at least. Not bad for no one knowing we have them. There are 5 baskets full of different fabrics so come on in a grab a few for your next craft project. They are $2.50 each.
What would you like to see new at Silkweeds? What would make you come here more often? By all means leave us a comment and let us know. We might not be able to do all of them but we promise to consider them all.
Have a great day and remember "It's Always Worth the Trip @ Silkweeds."

Show Someone You Care
Oh What A Gorgeous Day.........
The sun is shining, Even the snow looks beautiful to me on a day like this.
The Camden Taboggen Races are this weekend and even if that doesn't bring that many customers my way, it will bring customers to the region. It will be a good weekend to support the economy. They will have so much fun and such good weather. It should be a great time for everyone this weekend. If you have never been, take a ride into Camden this weekend for some much needed fun.....
We just got in these plates, they are so nice as gifts, or sitting on your own mantle letting people know that they are thought of or that you care. In these hard times like we are having sometimes it is just seems easier if you let someone know that we are in this all together.
Enjoy the day, the weekend and take time to enjoy your lives.

WOOLY WOOLY.................
Good Morning,
Wow... Two days in a row. I must be on a roll lol. I wanted you to get a look at these wonderful new purses that we have at Silkweeds. They are made locally. Purse-analities by Denise is the name of the company and I am lucky enough to have an inside track. They are an outlet for some extra energy and she does a fanatastic job on them. If you get time come on in and check them out.

Also we do have other lines of jewelry like I showed you yesterday, so when you feel the need to just get out and buy something nice for yourself, look no further than right here at Silkweeds
This wonderful moose pin is from Natures 1 and the Butterfly Pendant beside it helps to give hope and new beginnings to the one who wears it faithfully.
If the jewelry isn't enough to put you in a springy mood than these Austrailian Secret Soaps will do the trick. With two displays of different scents there is sure to be something to awaken your senses. If you try them you will never want to use other soaps again.
Hope you all are enjoying the sunshine and I know I can't wait for the weekend. They weather is suppose to be near 40 here. It gives us all hope for spring.................... until then remember "It's Always Worth the Trip @ Silkweeds"

February Blues
Good Morning
Well it has been about two months since I have posted a blog. Like many other store owners I have to sit and ponder sometimes, I guess I have been stuck there pondering alot lately.
As you all know the economy in such disarray doesn't help small businesses at all. I am not trying to complain, I just simply sit and wonder, what might I be doing wrong, what else could I try, what the next sale should or shouldn't be. I just seem to sit an ponder.
On a lighter note, if you haven't been to the store lately, It looks good in here. We have spring flowers, some new angels, mermaids in the window and a new display for house numbers, along with some new dishes in the kitchen and some beautiful new linens. Hope you will stop in soon and have a look around.

Here is a one of a kind necklace done by Glass Orchids. We do carry a line of jewelry from her. She has some very unique things made from dichroic glass.
Well I just looked down and realized it is time for me to open the shop so I guess I will have to finish this later. Have a great day and remember that "It's Always Worth the Trip @ Silkweeds"
